I have always been a mood reader, and love changing my genres up with the seasons. I dove deep into some popular beach reads this summer and enjoyed all of these books because they balance in-depth themes like mental health with touch of humor and romance. The only book on this list that is not a rom-com and has heavier themes such as terminal illness is The Last Letter.
This Summer Will Be Different // Carly Fortune
A florist attempts to avoid her best friend's brother-- and their powerful chemistry-- on Prince Edward Island. This Summer Will Be Different took me to another place, which is exactly what I wanted when I opened it. I loved it, and just like many of its other readers, am on a mission to get to Prince Edward Island, eat my weight in oysters, and add a flower shop to my bookstore dreams. Ha!
The Last Letter // Rebecca Yarros
The Last Letter was an emotional rollercoaster, but one I enjoyed very much. Be ready to grab the tissues!
Next to Beach Read, this is my favorite Emily Henry book. A charming romance with a fake-dating plot, Funny Story was a crowd pleaser with my book club. It is funny, romantic, and overall just the perfect summer read.
A fake-dating romance novel, Yours Truly is the second installment of the Part of Your World series, but can also be read as a standalone. I loved how the author let us into the minds of characters with mental health issues, while also incorporating witty lines and many laugh-out-loud scenes. This book also made me laugh on several occasions.
Just for the Summer // Abby Jimenez
Just for the Summer is the third installment of the Part of Your World series, which could also be read as a standalone. I loved this book, and loved how some of the characters from Part of Your World made a connection to characters in this book. A fun read full of comedy, romance, and real life mental health situations and feelings, this book is extremely entertaining. I'm officially an Abby Jimenez fan!
