For Authors

We are grateful for the enthusiasm authors have shown in having their books on the shelves at The Spine & Vine. As a space committed to providing quality books for all types of readers, we thoughtfully curate our selection to reflect our values, mission, and the interests of our community. 

Due to the volume of requests we receive, we are unable to host unscheduled author visits or accept books brought into the shop without prior arrangement. We kindly ask that all authors submit their information through the form below rather than dropping off materials in person.

Every submission is reviewed with care. If we feel your book is a strong match for our shelves or future programming, a member of our team will be in touch within 4-6 weeks of submission. If you do not hear from us, please know how much we truly appreciate your interest and understanding that we are unable to carry every title we receive.

Our Curation Focus

At The Spine & Vine, we specialize in: 

  • Children’s Books
  • Young Adult Books
  • Adult Fiction: romance, fantasy, mystery, literary fiction, and historical fiction
  • Beautiful edition and design-forward books that resonate with our readership

To be eligible for consideration for your book must: 

  • Be bound, with clear and legible title and author information on the cover and spine. No books with stapled or spiral bounding will be considered. 
  • Free of any artificial intelligence 
  • Titles must be no more than 12 months old.
  • Have cover images of good quality. Images and text cannot be pixelated, and all text must be legible. 
  • Have a valid ISBN and barcode
  • We require a minimum of 40% discount and free freight: all books must be fully returnable. 
  • If we are unable to source your book through our main distributor at our required terms, please be aware that our alternative option is to source books through you, the author. As such, we require all authors who provide books to us to also provide invoices for prompt payment and record keeping. Spine & Vine is NOT responsible for creating invoices for books provided to us.

Please do not drop off or mail copies of your book to Spine & Vine for inventory consideration. Due to the heavy volume of inventory submissions we receive, our buyers are not able to accommodate requests for meetings in-person or over the phone to discuss inventory submission requests. Our inventory team does not accept inventory submissions via any channel except the form. Books mailed to or dropped off at Spine & Vine become the property of Spine & Vine and will not be returned.

Please allow 4-6 weeks for a response. Our response may be delayed between the holiday shopping season, from mid-November until early January. 

Be considerate of our store. If you have a website or social media presence, please do not let Amazon be the only link available. Spine & Vine often reposts social media content we’re tagged in, but we will not repost anything from authors that mentions or links to Amazon or any other bookseller.
