About the book
In 1950s America, Lulu Mayfield has worked hard to become the ideal housewife. After her daughter’s birth, the pressure of those expectations and memories of past tragedy begin to unsettle her carefully ordered life. She turns her attention to her new neighbor, Bitsy, whose picture-perfect appearance seems to conceal something darker.

As Lulu becomes increasingly absorbed in Bitsy’s life, long-buried memories resurface. This historical suspense explores identity, motherhood, and the restrictive expectations placed on women in the postwar era.
